Nihat Ergun

Born in 1962 in İzmit.
Completed the primary, secondary and high school education in İzmit Technical High School. Attended the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences of Marmara University and completed his higher education in 1984.
Participated in several political and social activities during his high school and university education. Elected as the Mayor of Kocaeli, Derince district in the local elections held in 1994.
Worked in the fields of free trade, accounting, consultancy and management advisory services. Appointed as the chairman of Kocaeli province for Justice and Development Party.
Elected as the deputy from Kocaeli province from Justice and Development Party during the elections of November 3, 2002.
Member of The Commission for State Economic Enterprises within Turkish Grand National Assembly and Executive Board for the Group Presidency of Justice and Development Party in Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Became a member of Central Board for Management and Decision Taking of Justice and Development Party in the first Grand Ordinary Congress (October 12, 2003). Appointed as the Deputy Chairman responsible for Local Authorities of Justice and Development Party on April 12, 2005. 
Re-elected as the member of Central Board for Management and Decision Taking of Justice and Development Party in the second Grand Ordinary Congress held in November 11, 2006.
Re-elected as the deputy from Kocaeli province from Justice and Development Party during the elections held on July 22, 2007.
Elected as the Acting Chairman of the Group Presidency of Justice and Development Party on August 8, 2007.
