Jesus Banegas Nunez is, since 1991, President of the Association of Electronics, Information Technologies and Telecommunication Companies of Spain (AETIC) former President of the European Association of Telecommunications and Professional Electronic Industries (ECTEL), and one of Spain´s most widely experienced industrial managers with large international recognition.
He has been working for over fifteen years in multinational Telecommunications companies, (ITT and Telettra), first in Engineering and R & D, then in Marketing and Sales, where he reached the position of international Vice-President.
As Managing Director of AMPER, S.A. (1986-1998), Spain´s leading industrial Telecommunications and Electronic group, and President and Vice-President of some of the Group´s companies, Mr. Banegas played a major role in acquisitions and joint ventures with leading international corporations (AT&T, Motorola, Thompson, Siemens, …) which went to make up the holding and led to the appearance of Spanish companies on the worldwide Telecommunications scenario.
He is Vice-president and President of the International Relations Commission of CEOE (Confederation of Employers and Industries of Spain) and member of its Executive Committee and is also member of the Spanish Government´s Advisory Council on Telecommmunications.
After been a member of the Committee for the European Forum for the Information Technologies and the Committee for the Public Market of European Commission, Mr. Banegas was elected director of the Executive Board of EICTA (European Information and Communications Technology Industry Association). Actually, he is the Chairman of the Internal Market Committee of BUSINESSEUROPE (Union of Industrial and Employers´ Confederations of Europe).
Nowadays, he is founder and president of IP SISTEMAS (Spanish leader in Internet technologies integration), and FONYTEL (holding of ITC small research companies) and director of ICEX (Spanish Institution for Foreign Business), BAO&PARTNERS and others ICT companies: PENTEO, ARSYS, TELDAT.
He is widely recognised as one of the country´s most active entrepreneur and analyst in telecommunications, innovation and technology. He takes part in academic activities and seminars organised by Universities, professional organisations and foundations. During five years, he has been mastering together with Manuel Castells a Seminar in the University of Madrid (UAM) related to Technology, Economy and Society. Since 1993 he is Director of the Telecommunications Seminar which is held annually at the Menéndez Pelayo International University in Santander, which is attended by business leaders and internationally-renowned specialists of the sector. He is a prolific writer and regular communicator with Media, and his articles and opinions are a regular point of reference in Spain.
He was born in Spain and he is a Ph Doctor in economic science and Engineer.
