Mohamed Loutfy Mansour

Mohamed Loutfy Mansour was appointed as Minister of Transport on January 1, 2006. In this capacity, he leads the nation's transportation network covering Roads and Bridges, Railways, Underground, Ports, Maritime Transport, Mass Transit, and River Transport; while managing one of the largest ministries in the government.
Minister Mansour was born in Sharkia, Egypt on January 23, 1948. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University, USA in 1968, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Auburn University, USA in 1971. He then taught at Auburn University until 1973.
Prior to his public service, Mansour was the President of the Mansour Group which represents nine of the top Fortune 500 companies and employs nearly 20,000 people. He is the Founder and was Chairman of the Al Mansour Motor Group, the General Motors distributor in Egypt, Iraq and Libya. Mansour was, in addition, the Chairman and CEO of Mantrac, the authorized distributor of Caterpillar, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Microsoft and Compaq for Egypt. Mansour also chaired Unatrac, the authorized Caterpillar distributor in six African countries namely Nigeria, Ghana, Sierraleone, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, Europe and the Middle East, Russia and Iraq as well as chaired Credit Agricole in Egypt.
Mansour served on the Board of several organizations. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Lead Foundation which is a non profitable organization providing loans to small and micro enterprises, Member and Former Secretary General of the Future Foundation; Member of the Board of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University; the George Washington School of Business Advisory Board; the International Advisory Board of the Coca Cola Company; the Special Olympics of Egypt; the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges; and the Social Fund for Development and the Board of Trustees of the American University in Cairo. Furthermore, Mansour served as the Chairman of the Egypt-U.S. Business Council; the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt; and the Secretary General of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES). He is also the Chairman of the Al-Mansour Charity Foundation.
