Rashad Rudolf Kaldany

Rashad-Rudolf Kaldany is the Asia, Middle East/North Africa and Global Infrastructure's Vice President. In this position he oversees IFC’s business in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and provides leadership to the Global Infrastructure Cluster, which includes the Infrastructure; Information and Communication Technologies; Oil, Gas, Mining, and Chemicals; and Subnational Finance Departments.
Mr. Kaldany joined IFC in 1988 as an Investment Officer in the West Africa and Middle East Department and in 1990 transferred to the Middle East and North Africa department.  From 1992 to 1994, he was Special Assistant to IFC's Executive Vice Presidents, Sir William Ryrie and Mr. Jannik Lindbaek. In 1994 he became Manager, Capital Markets division of the Asia Department. In 1997, he was promoted to Director, South and Southeast Asia Department, and was based in New Delhi, India.
Mr. Kaldany returned to headquarters in 2000 as the Director of the Oil, Gas and Chemicals Department, a joint department of the IFC and the World Bank, which merged with the Mining Department in July 2002. Mr. Kaldany oversaw the multi-stakeholder extractive industries consultation process, which reinvigorated the mandate for World Bank Group activities in these sectors with a focus on community development. He also led the Bank Group’s participation in launching the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and the Global Gas Flaring Reduction Partnership.
From March 2007, Mr. Kaldany became Director of the Infrastructure Department, until June 2008. During this period, IFC’s activities in infrastructure development more than doubled. In addtition Mr. Kaldany co-led with Ms. Rachel Kyte, Vice President Advisory Services, the preparation of IFC’s Climate Change Strategy. On July 1, 2008, Mr. Kaldany was appointed to the position of Vice President, Middle East/North Africa and Global Infrastructure Cluster, and became responsible for Asia on January 1, 2009.
Mr. Kaldany received a Ph.D. from Columbia University and an MBA from Stanford University.
